Bitumen
Our bitumen is a two spray hot seal application. The preparation is approximately 120mL of compacted main roads specification road base. This forms the solid base of your driveway. The area is then sprayed with 180° hot bitumen and a 10mL stone is spread over the driveway.
The area is then rolled to push the 10mL stone into the bitumen. The whole process is then repeated with a colour coverstone from our range of aggregates. The surface is rolled again to push in the coloured stone.
The finish will have a light cover of loose stone on top, this is normal to allow the bitumen to cure underneath. The preceding weeks will see this loose stone rolled in as your vehicles drive on it. Spray seal bitumen can be repaired without visible marks or lines.
Asphalt
Our asphalt driveways are prepared with approximately 120mL of main roads specification road base compacted to form the base. This forms the base for your driveway to ensure it’s longevity. Asphalt is then laid at approximately 25-30mL thicknesses or as required.
Asphalt is a quality, flexible and versatile product that permits a joint less, smooth edge finish, against any surface edging. Asphalt is less inclined to crack and can easily be repaired rather than requiring complete relaying.
Our asphalt driveways are either machine laid or hand laid depending on site conditions and sloping blocks.
Asphalt driveways are a smooth black bitumen as apposed to the spray seal bitumen which has a light covering of stone on top.
